Deborah Lolo, President

President

Dr. Deborah Lolo, PharmD moved from Haiti to the United States of America in 2000 where she attended undergraduate school at Florida Atlantic University followed by the completion of a doctorate degree in pharmacy at Nova Southeastern University. She is also a licensed consultant pharmacist. Dr. Lolo has been practicing as a doctor in pharmacy since 2011. She held several positions in the community and, most recently has been practicing as a pediatric outpatient pharmacy manager in Miami. Dr. Lolo is passionate about using her skills and knowledge in pharmacy to educate and serve the community. She has been an active member of the Haitian-American Pharmacists association since 2019 and, has held the position of Chair of Public Relation until being elected as president in November of 2021.

Michelange Tanis
Vice-President

Dr. Michelange Tanis, originally from Pompano Beach, FL, began his academic career at Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University in Tallahassee, FL, in the Fall of 1998, where he received a Doctor of Pharmacy degree in the spring of 2005. Mike is currently a community and hospital pharmacist practicing in the South Florida area. Mike has a passion for music, healthcare, and community service and he is committed to using his knowledge, skills, and energy for the betterment of those with whom he comes in contact. Mike believes in the power of learning and has a desire to share with and serve his community in an effort to uplift those that would benefit from what he has to offer.

Martin Elie

Dr. Martin Elie, originally from the state of New York by way of his hometown, Haiti, is an entrepreneur and Co-Owner of Pharmacie Sophia PV, headquartered in Haiti. He is also the founder of MEDSYS Medical Software and Caripharma Retail Pharmacies, a chain of retail pharmacies. Using the experience gained practicing pharmacy as a manager and as a hospital pharmacist in the US, Martin is dedicated to sharing his expertise by serving the community.
Ronette Duverny Dominique, Treasurer

Ronette Dominique, PharmD has been a retail pharmacist serving her community since 1999, when she earned a doctorate in pharmacy from Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University in Tallahassee, Florida. She has since worked in different settings including chain, hospital, and independent pharmacies. Dr. Dominique is passionate about providing useful medication counseling and education in the communities she serves.
Kelly Desir, Secretary

Dr. Kelly Desir obtained her Bachelor’s in Biology from Florida Atlantic University in 2017. She then went on to follow her aspirations of becoming a Pharmacist and graduated in 2021 from Nova Southeastern University with her Pharm D. Kelly has a passion for serving those in her community and teaching through community events specifically focusing on the underserved. Kelly strongly believes in patient education and has used her time and efforts to support education initiatives on many health-related topics primarily targeting the public. Kelly is a novice to the field of pharmacy and has since catalyzed her career in pharmacy working with remarkable compounding and functional medicine pharmacists. Her goal, to continue to empower her patients through education. Through HAPA, that goal is unfailingly fulfilled.

Ruth-Anne Desauguste
Assistant Secretary

Ruth-Anne Desauguste began her carrier in Port-Au-Prince, receiving her bachelor degree in Pharmacy at the State University of Haiti in 1989. She additionally majored in social studies at the Human Sciences Institute, aspiring to provide care beyond therapeutics. Her hobbies include singing, various forms of ballroom dance and giving back to her community.
She became a licensed Pharmacist in the state of Florida in 1996 where she continues practicing to this date. Her professional ideals are inspired by a quote from Francois Rabelais, French writer, humanist and physician: “Science without conscience is but ruin of the soul”. Which explains her commitment to embrace H.A.P.A. noble endeavor.

Auguste Alexandre

Dr. Auguste Alexandre received his B.S. in Pharmacy from Long Island University in Brooklyn, New York in 1996 and became licensed to practice pharmacy the same year. He served as pharmacy manager of several major chain community pharmacies for 12 years. He has been working as a clinical pharmacist for the past ten years. In 2014, he earned a Doctor of Pharmacy degree ( Pharm D) from Howard University in Washington D.C. Dr. Alexandre is a community advocate and he enjoys serving his community by working with the less fortunate. HAPA has given him the opportunity to fulfill his passion.

Cassandra Esperant is a pharmacist provider that prescribes HIV prevention therapy via a collaborative practice agreement in South Florida. Cassandra Esperant once told her high school chemistry teacher that she didn’t need his class because she was going to law school.

Clifford Charles began his career as a pharmacist in 2018. He has a strong passion for providing care to the underserved. He is currently a clinical pharmacist at a small rural hospital.
Maude Desir, Media Relations

Maude Desir

Maude Desir earned her Doctorate in Pharmacy at Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine (LECOM). She is a Clinical Instructor of Pharmacy Practice and serves as the Pharmacist-in-Charge at Omnicare Pharmacy in South Florida. Maude has been practicing pharmacy for over 10 years and her passion is to educate underserved communities. In 2019, Maude created a forum “Chwazi Sante” to help the Haitian Community get answers to health/medications related questions in creole. Under the umbrella of “Chwazi Sante” Maude has had numerous informative presentations on several diseases and vaccines to educate the Haitian Community on making choices that prioritize their health from the kitchen to their medicine cabinets.

Phillip Belamy
Historian

Phil Belamy has been an original member of HAPA since 2018. He has a BS in Electrical Engineering and earned his pharmacy degree at Long Island University. Phil has 15 years of experience working as a community pharmacist at Walgreens Pharmacy and as a clinical pharmacist at Delray Medical Center Hospital in Delray Beach, Florida. Phil is proud of his community and has been a pillar of support to organizations providing much-needed resources to various communities in need.

About HAPA

HAPA is inspired by the life and legacy of Dr Thomas W. Patrick Sr. Doctor Thomas W. Patrick Sr (1872-1953) migrated from Haiti to the United States as a child with his family in 1892. While in the U.S he became a Pharmacist and a Doctor providing healthcare education, medical services and pharmaceutical knowledge to the Haitian community. READ MORE
